Hello You Beautiful (Bear) Builders!
Wow, what a month! But we don’t let bad news stop us from building, do we? NO!
Also, I took a week off curating this newsletter before thanksgiving, then another, and well, then another. I’m back now and focusing on making this a weekly roundup.
Thanks!
Pick Your Platform
For Web3 developers, one of the early decisions you make for your dApp, and one that can have the most impact, is which blockchain you launch on. Every chain basically does the same thing, but a bit differently.
What's crucial for your dApp's survival may not even matter to someone else. This in-depth comparison of L1, L2s, Rollups, app specific chains, and modular stacks will point you in the right direction.

Test Your Skills
Think you know everything there is to know about Ethereum and Solidity development?
Get ready to be humbled with this test from RareSkils, which prides itself on being the "hardest blockchain bootcamp on the block". I won't be sharing my score. It was that bad!
Learn Solana Dev with freeCodeCamp
freeCodeCamp recently launched a Solana development curriculum under and now the first group of projects is available.
The new projects "Learn How to Interact with On-Chain Programs" and "Build a Smart Contract" join the first released project "Learn How to Set Up Solana by Building a Hello World Smart Contract".
The courses are self-contained Docker images you can run right from VS Code. 12 additional Solana courses are planned for release soon.

Chainlink VRF v2 Advanced Course
A core requirement of a blockchain is to be "deterministic". This makes getting a truly random value nearly impossible.
Thankfully, Chainlink provides a service that allows you to get a truly random value using their VRF smart contracts. To guide you along the way, Chainlink Academy just released launched a new VRF v2 Advanced course.
Finish the course and you're rewarded with course-completion NFT (and more skillz!).
Basement API for Web3 Data
Basement has announced the Basement API, giving Web3 devs fast access to a wide range of on-chain data.
Basement gives developers granular access to what's happening on-chain, inside an address, NFT, contract or transaction. Developers can pick between the Basement SDK or GraphQL API.
